Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats Announces New Executive Director
Lindsay Northrop takes the helm at the adventure-based breast cancer nonprofit
DURHAM, NH, July 25, 2023
Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats, a NH-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing New England-area women with breast cancer the opportunity to participate in adventure-based outdoor retreats, is pleased to announce that Lindsay Northrop has been hired as the new Executive Director.
Northrop is uniquely qualified for this position as she is a two-time breast cancer survivor with extensive experience as a communications professional and patient advocate. She will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations, fundraising, and events, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. “We are excited to have Lindsay join us as our new Executive Director. Not only is Lindsay a breast cancer survivor, but she also has the skills and experience needed to effectively lead and grow the Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats organization,” remarked Cynthia Cote, Co-Founder, Past President and Executive Director Emerita of Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats.
Northrop reflected on her new role, stating, “I am passionate about providing resources and support to women with breast cancer and was drawn to the Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats organization by the strong impact of their work within the regional breast cancer community. I am excited to focus my energy and expertise in order to fulfill the nonprofit’s mission of supporting women with breast cancer in their journeys from surviving to thriving. I am truly honored to be responsible for ensuring that Betty J. Borry’s legacy of hope and healing continues to reach women with breast cancer throughout New England.”
Northrop earned a degree in Public Relations and Management Communication from Emerson College and spent many years working in various communications roles for public relations agencies, corporate clients and as a consultant. In addition, she brings several years of fundraising experience from her volunteer work as well as a passion for health and wellness through her certifications as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Trainer and Cancer Exercise Training Institute (CETI) Cancer Exercise Specialist.
Northrop lives with her husband, two teenage sons and two rescue dogs in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
