Adventure Retreats

Empowering Women Affected by Breast Cancer

We currently hold three adventure retreat weekends per year, one in the fall, one in the winter and one in the spring/summer. All of our retreats offer outdoor challenges and adventures, expressive and healing arts activities, quiet periods to rest, as well as opportunities to connect, share and reflect on your breast cancer journey with other survivors/thrivers. Past retreats have included activities such as snowshoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, rock climbing, high ropes courses, Nordic walking, yoga, tai chi, qigong, meditation, guided imagery, journaling, painting, quilting, pottery and more.

Read about our various retreat options below as each seasonal retreat is very different. There is no limit to the amount of times you can come to a retreat as a participant and we hope you will try all of our retreat weekend options! Visit our FAQ page for more information or reach out with any questions.

Winter Adventure Retreat

Winter Adventure Retreat

Our winter retreats focus on the theme of “new beginnings and nature’s renewal”. For the past 20 years, we have been hosting our retreat weekends in the beautiful Crawford Notch area in heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our winter retreat typically involves the choice of a hike up to the summit of Mt. Willard or an easier more level walk/snowshoe around Ammonoosuc Lake, a healing activity or yoga, and an expressive art project. As with all of our retreats, we find hope and healing through our adventures in nature.

Summer Adventure Retreat

Summer Adventure Retreat

Our summer retreats are modeled after the original “Adventure Weekend” that Betty J. Borry founded nearly 30 years ago. These summer retreats are filled with challenging adventure activities, such as water sports (kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing), ropes courses and/or rock climbing, team building activities, expressive arts and more! If you are looking to challenge yourself physically and emotionally, this retreat will leave you feeling empowered and energized. Just like all of our other retreats, we harness the healing power of nature to help women transform from surviving to thriving.

Fall Adventure Retreat

to Oct 26

Fall Adventure Retreat

Our fall retreats have a more restorative and relaxing feel but still have an active component though walks and/or hikes, yoga or another healing activity, expressive arts and more. Following the theme of “the fall season of transformation,” our participants come away from the fall retreats feeling rejuvenated and ready to thrive after breast cancer. Like all of our retreats, we use our time outdoors and in nature to find joy and healing.

More About Adventure Retreats

Our adventure programs are designed specifically for women with breast cancer who want to take on new challenges and explore the healing power of nature. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or just starting out, our programs offer a variety of activities to suit your interests and skill level.

Our experienced guides will work with you to build your skills, ensure your safety, and create a supportive environment for all participants. You'll have the opportunity to connect and bond with other breast cancer survivors while challenging yourself physically and mentally.

In addition to the physical and emotional benefits of participating in outdoor activities, research has shown that exercise and outdoor time can also have positive effects on breast cancer survivors' long-term health outcomes.
