Our Impact

The mission of Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats is to
support, empower and enhance the quality of life
for women of all stages of breast cancer

through adventure based support opportunities in a retreat environment.

Our Vision:

The Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats is a dynamic, grassroots organization of volunteers dedicated to fostering hope and enhancing the quality of life for breast cancer survivors. Through the facilitation and efforts of the board of directors and local and regional community volunteers, an ongoing schedule of events/activities provide survivors with opportunities to network, to pursue personal growth and empowerment and to foster an attitude of survivorship. The organization is committed to developing the resources necessary to create a successful and stable financial picture via a marketing and fundraising plan that relies on securing diversified resources.

Our Values:

We welcome women with breast cancer from all walks of life, who are at any age or stage in their cancer journey. Our priority is to provide an inclusive, comforting and rejuvenating experience for women so that they can harness the healing power of nature to go from surviving to thriving.

What our participants are saying…

After my diagnosis in January 2023, I felt scared and in a sense, alone. Betty J. Borry Adventure Retreats gave me the opportunity to meet women with breast cancer, and made me feel that I was a part of something greater than my own illness.

Sharing our stories with one another, openly talking about our cancer almost immediately, like we had known each other forever. We were different and each of us had a unique story sharing everything including supportive words of kindness and understanding. All of this support not only made the retreat leave me with a sense of security, it made me feel that I was not alone.

The weather didn't cooperate, and the adventure had to change, so the BJB as well as the camp facilitators really did a great job on a beautiful campus. I wouldn't trade my time with them. Because we came in as strangers and left as sisters.

- Liz V. (Summer Adventure Retreat Participant)

  • “I am so very blessed to belong to such a wonderful group of sisters!! Although it isn’t a group we have chosen for ourselves, I would definitely say it is one truly great thing that breast cancer gave me!”

    Charli (Fall Retreat Participant)

  • “I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to have found this group and these amazing and beautiful women!! “This retreat was a life-changing experience. I met the most wonderful, strong and inspirational women during this weekend. I leave here with a lot of hope in my heart!”

    Fall Retreat Participant

  • “I am still in awe of this weekend. Never in my life have I experienced such non-judgemental, unconditional love in a room full of strangers that I now consider my extended family. Thanks to each and everyone of you for a most remarkable time.”
